Blairgowrie Community Garden

Wine Fundraiser

October 2021

Welcome to our annual wine fundraiser for our community garden.

We need to raise some funds to pay for our new hothouse. This is our first fundraiser for this year.

This year’s selection of wines offer excellent value for money once again. They are not cheap wines; they are great wines at a really good price. We have 3 new reds to suit all tastes: a rich full bodied Shiraz, a fresh delicious Sangiovese and a soft Pinot Noir. Our whites this year are the same as last year; yummy!

1.  McLAREN VALE SHIRAZ 2018  $14
Typical varietal spice and ripe red fruits enhanced by superb lingering tannins. Rich mouth-filing flavours, full bodied, smooth and well balanced and a great food wine.

Crimson in colour, with bright berry aromas with a hint of toasted oak. An elegant wine with  layered dark fruits: Morello cherry and hints of plum on the palate, balanced by a fine structure of acid and tannins. A great food wine: the perfect partner for red meat dishes.

Pale red in colour, with aromas of black cherry, spice and sweet oak. The palate has luscious dark berry fruits, balanced by fine tannins on the smooth dry finish.

A cool-climate Pinot Grigio from the Adelaide Hills slopes, with wonderful varietal style: soft orchard fruit aromas, and a palate of crisp apple and pear, balanced by a delicate finish.

Grown on mature vines, this Chardonnay opens with pale straw-gold colour, and aromas of white peach and tropical fruits. The refreshing palate has lively stone fruit and melon balanced by a creamy mouthfeel and a lingering finish.

Vegan: no animal products used.

This Sauvignon Blanc opens with  herbaceous aromas. A wonderfully balanced style with a fruit salad bowl of intense fruit flavours on the palate, balanced by a crisp dry finish.
Vegan: no animal products used.

Crafted from select parcels of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier from cool climate vineyards. It is softly textured with good fruit weight and persistent flavour, finishing dry with crisp acidity.

#####Aren't all wines vegan? No! Young unfiltered wine can be cloudy and contain floating particles which can be detrimental to the wine.  Wine makers use “fining agents” to filter the wine. Fining agents are traditionally animal-derived products: egg whites, bone marrow, gelatin, fish oil or shell fibres. There are ways to fine wine without animal products. Bentonite clay, activated charcoal, limestone, and silica gel are all filters currently employed by vegan wine makers that do the same job.

The wines we have selected for this fundraiser are all supplied by Prospect Wines Blackburn. Each wine is labelled with our own exclusive label.
